Unlike traditional tarot cards, which follow rigid structures, oracle cards offer flexibility and freedom in interpretation. Each card features imagery and symbols that resonate with the subconscious, serving as mirrors that reflect the energies and emotions present in our lives.

Working with Chakras

Chakras are energy centres or points within the body that are believed to play a crucial role in the flow of vital energy, also known as “prana” or “chi.” The term “chakra” comes from Sanskrit and means “wheel” or “vortex.” These energy centres are often described as spinning wheels or vortices of energy that are located along the spinal column and through the body.

Chakra Overview

There are seven primary chakras, each associated with specific areas of the body, psychological functions, and qualities:

Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Located at the base of the spine, this chakra is associated with grounding, stability, and survival instincts.

Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

Located in the lower abdomen, it is linked to emotions, creativity, and relationships.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)

Positioned in the upper abdomen, this chakra relates to personal power, self-esteem, and confidence.

Heart Chakra (Anahata)

Located at the centre of the chest, it is associated with love, compassion, and relationships.

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

Found in the throat, this chakra is linked to communication, self-expression, and speaking one’s truth.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

Positioned in the forehead between the eyes, it is associated with intuition, insight, and inner wisdom.

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)

Located at the top of the head, this chakra is linked to spirituality, enlightenment, and oneness with the universe.

Balancing and aligning the chakras is believed to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Various practices, such as meditation, yoga, and energy healing, aim to open and harmonise these energy centres to achieve a sense of balance and holistic health. It’s important to note that the concept of chakras is rooted in spiritual and holistic traditions, and individual beliefs and experiences with chakras can vary widely.

The key to chakra harmony is checking each of the seven key chakras and taking steps to clear any blockages to ensure a clear pathway between them.

How do you know if your chakras are blocked? 

One of the best ways to know if your chakras are blocked is to notice how you feel, both mentally and physically. If you feel sluggish, stagnant, anxious, or any other feelings we typically consider “negative,” then it’s very likely that at least one of your chakras is blocked. Whether the symptoms are physical, mental, or emotional, they are signs of energetic imbalance. Each chakra corresponds to different psychological and physical symptoms, and learning about those can help you understand which chakra might be blocked. The best antidote is to balance all the chakras daily because all of them are connected.

Symptoms of Blocked Chakras

Here are some common signs and symptoms of blocked chakras, as they correspond to different chakras:

Root Chakra (Muladhara):

  • Feelings of insecurity and instability.
  • Financial or survival-related anxieties.
  • Physical issues related to the lower back, legs, or feet.

Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana):

  • Emotional instability, mood swings.
  • Creativity blocks and a lack of inspiration.
  • Problems with the reproductive system or sexual issues.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura):

  • Low self-esteem and self-confidence.
  • Digestive problems and issues related to the stomach area.

Heart Chakra (Anahata):

  • Difficulty in forming meaningful connections and experiencing love.
  • Respiratory and heart-related problems.

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha):

  • Communication difficulties and feeling unheard.
  • Sore throat, thyroid issues, or speech problems.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna):

  • Lack of intuition and insight.
  • Problems with vision, headaches, or insomnia.

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara):

  • Feeling disconnected from a higher purpose or spirituality.
  • Issues with the nervous system, migraines, or sleep disturbances.

Exercise to help balance and unblock your chakras

This exercise is a wonderful way to connect with your chakras and promote balance and harmony. It combines self-awareness, visualisation, and breath-work to clear and align your energy centres. Regular practice can contribute to a sense of overall well-being and inner balance. Because thoughts and emotions are closely connected to our energy, this simple routine can help address and release any blockages, fostering a healthier flow of energy through your chakras.

  • Set Aside 5-10 Minutes Daily
    Dedicate a short period each day for this practice, ensuring you won’t be interrupted.
  • Observe Your Feelings
    Close your eyes and spend the first five minutes simply observing how you feel without judgment. Pay attention to physical sensations, mental thoughts, and emotional states.
  • Notice Tension and Emotions
    During this phase, identify areas of tension or discomfort, as well as any negative or positive thoughts that arise.
  • Focus on Your Breath
    Continue to observe your breath during this phase, as it plays a significant role in grounding and relaxation.
  • Visualise White Light
    In the next five minutes, begin to visualise white light starting at the crown of your head. Imagine this light slowly moving down through each of your chakras.
  • Take Relaxing Deep Breaths
    As you visualise the white light, take deep, relaxing breaths. This can further enhance the calming and balancing effect of the practice.
  • Spread the Light
    Once you’ve envisioned the white light reaching the base of your spine, visualise it spreading throughout your entire body.
  • Open Your Eyes
    After completing this visualisation, take a deep breath and open your eyes.
  • Notice the Difference
    Observe how you feel after this practice. Pay attention to any shifts in your physical, mental, or emotional state.

Colour Therapy in the Home – using the 7 Chakras for Powerful Decoration

Colour Therapy in the Home

Colour therapy is the colourful wellness movement designed to boost your mood.

Once you understand what every colour stands for and helps you feel, you can make either drastic or subtle changes to introduce more happiness, energy, romance or creativity into your life. 

Colours are inseparably linked to our feelings.  Interior designers, branding specialists and artists have used colours for years to evoke specific feelings, influencing our interpretations, decisions and behaviour.

Did you know that the science of colour psychology is used extensively in marketing? 

EasyJet rebranded to orange to invoke the feeling of sunny holidays, away from stuffy business trips.  Bright colours like orange and yellow make people feel happy and energised.  

Quality Street’s branding is the Colour purple as it is associated with quality and Regalness.

As we learn the attributes of each colour, we too can use this knowledge to create atmospheres in different rooms of our homes.

The colours will infuse your living spaces with the right energy and will help you feel balanced and connected on a day-to-day basis.

Using Colour for the Body

As a trained Reiki Energy Healer and Colour Therapist, I use colour to balance the body’s energy centres ~ also known as chakras.  I recognise the importance of using colour in our homes and this is why I have collaborated with McAlister Textiles, creating a beautiful and luxurious range of Chakra coloured soft furnishings that include curtains, bedding, blinds, cushions, door stoppers and yoga cushions to create the ambience that you want to achieve in your home. 

Adding pops of colour to a neutral palette is ideal.  You can start with an accent piece – like a red cushion or a purple door stopper.  By transforming an entire room with a range of different coloured soft furnishings in one particular colour, can raise your energy levels and balance your chakras.

What are Chakras?

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that translates to ‘wheel’. In Ayurveda (ancient Indian medicine) chakras refer to energy wheels throughout the body and are the key to health, balance and alignment. There are seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head each associated with a different colour. When the chakras become blocked or imbalanced physical disease or ailments can manifest.  The application of the respective colour can correct the imbalances.

Here is where colour comes in. Since each chakra corresponds to a certain colour, by bringing more of that colour into your life may help you rebalance the energy flow within the imbalanced chakra.

The 7 primary chakra colours:

Red – Root Chakra

This is where we are grounded, supported and connects us to our physical selves. It’s a place for stability, balance and physical survival. It is also linked to prosperity and career success.

Red raises a room’s energy level.  It can stimulate love and romance.

Orange – Sacral Chakra

Relationship with ourselves, our sexuality, emotional range, and creativity. It is also the chakra of fertility and adaptability.

Use orange in your decor to boost your creativity and increase sensuality.

Yellow – Solar Plexus Chakra

This chakra represents our personal power.  It governs both self-esteem and self-discipline, radiating positive qualities such as confidence, leadership and mental clarity.

Yellow is the colour of optimism, it captures the joy of sunshine and communicates happiness.

Green – Heart Chakra

Unconditional love for self and others.  

Green is the colour of nature and the earth and is very calming and soothing, both physically and emotionally. It helps us to find balance and gives us the feeling of being free. Green can contribute to reducing stress by calming down the nervous system, as well as restoring depleted energy.

Blue – Throat Chakra

It is connected to clear and concise communications to our selves and others. When balanced, you are able to authentically express your truth. Blue is a great colour for rooms in the home where conversations are shared such as the dining room as well as a study or home office.

Blue is soothing and calming.

Purple – Third Eye Chakra

Represents intuition or the 6th sense, and is represented by the colour purple indigo. A splash of purple is perfect to add to your relaxing space or meditation/yoga corner, as this is the master chakra of wisdom and spiritual devotion.

Consider using purple for a room that you will use to get your mind to the right mindset for inspiration where you journal, do art, sew or any other inventive activity.

White – Crown Charka

Links us to enlightenment and connection to both spirit and wisdom. 

White conveys a feeling of newness and cleanliness.  It makes a room feel more open and spacious.

Using Colour Therapy

Did you know that different chemicals are released from our brains when we look at a particular colour?  For example, when we look at the colour yellow we feel a sense of joy because it stimulates serotonin, the feel-good hormone.   Our emotions are inseparably linked to colours, a powerful tool which artists, interior designers, fashion designers and branding experts have used successfully to evoke our feelings. 

Red – Root Chakra

Love, courage and confidence.

To add to rooms for a burst of energy, such as entertainment or dining rooms.

Orange – Sacral Chakra

Enthusiasm, creativity, and energising.

Rooms that are used for creativity.

Yellow – Solar Plexus Chakra

Happiness, warmth, and stimulation. 

To add to rooms where social activities take place.

Green – Heart Chakra

Soothing, nature, and balancing. 

For rooms that you relax in.

Blue – Throat Chakra

Love, courage and confidence.

Stability, relaxation, and communication. 

Colour of communication and calms a busy mind.

A great colour for shared spaces.

Purple – Third Eye Chakra.

Sensuality, mysticism and intuition.

Ideal for rooms where you meditate or do yoga.

White – Crown Chakra

Peacefulness, cleanliness and innocence. 

For rooms that would benefit from a hint of freshness and a lighter feel.

Crystal Healing is not seen as woo-woo anymore!

At first glance, a crystal grid is a beautiful way of displaying crystals, but they are so much more than that!

I have noticed in my healing practice, that crystals and crystal healing have become very popular in recent years. When I recommend a particular type of crystal to a client, during a crystal healing session, majority of the time my client will either own a piece or know about its healing properties.  So why not take the next step in discovering how a crystal grid may actually MANIFEST abundance, prosperity and overall positivity in your life?

Rather than using just a single crystal, a crystal grid is an arrangement of a minimum of 8 up to 100 crystals so that your intention is supported by more than one crystal. That’s it. 

Other objects can be placed on the grid such as rose petals, seashells, flowers and special trinkets that mean something to you.

Crystal grids can be incorporated into the design of your home to provide a special ambience to make your space feel special. 

Crystal Grids can be used in a variety of ways to manifest your dreams, goals and intentions. They are also powerful healing tools. The power of a crystal grid comes from the combined energies of the crystals you use, how you lay them out and the intentions you set.

The power of crystal healing is well known, and crystals are becoming more popular for self-healing and self-protection.  

They can be used in healing, manifesting, ritual work, meditation, intention setting practices or simply as a creative endeavour.  

There are many types of crystals and they are all unique in their own way as they have different properties and energies. By holding and being near a particular crystal its healing properties will balance your mind, body and spirit. 

Creating your first crystal grid can be a little daunting at first, I have therefore created an EnerChi crystal grid so that you can bring healing into your personal space.  As a crystal healer, I would advise that you follow your intuition and do what feels right for you. The most important thing to remember is that there is no right or wrong way to create a crystal grid. Whether you would like to follow a grid prescription or create your crystal grid as you go, the EnerChi Vibes grid will show you how easy and meditative they are to set up.

Crystal healing is an energy-based system. This means it is based on the belief that we are all made up of different energies and that when this becomes stagnant, unbalanced or blocked, it can cause illness. The premise is that crystals help unblock, balance and direct energy where it is most needed, gently supporting the body to heal in a therapeutic way.

The Set-Up

The first thing to do is set your intention … what would you like to manifest? What is the purpose of your crystal grid? Are you wishing to attract prosperity into your life? Do you want to bring more abundance into your life?  Do you need to boost your creativity? Are you looking to attract love and partnership? You can truly create a crystal grid to manifest any goal. 

Whatever your intention is, write it down on a piece of paper. This is your intention statement.

Crystal grids act as great subconscious reminders of your intention.

With a grid you have a crystal in the centre. This is called the ‘charger’, “anchor stone” or ‘focus crystal” and it is used to gather, focus and amplify the universal life force into the grid. I personally use clear quartz as it is a master healing crystal, and then all of the other crystals are gridded around this ‘charger’ crystal.  

The power of a crystal grid comes from the union of energies created between the crystals, sacred geometry and your intention. The combination of crystal energies in a geometric pattern creates a unique energy frequency that can be used to enhance your intention and ability to manifest results.

Step-by-step instructions for setting up a Crystal Grid:

  1. Pick your crystals that are aligned with your intention or use the crystals included with the EnerChi Vibes grid.
  2. Cleanse your space, grid and crystals of any negative energy by burning sage, Palo Santo or an incense stick. This will create a purified environment so your crystals can infuse the cleared space with your intention of choice. 
  3. Light a candle creating a meditative space.
  4. Write down the intention you wish to manifest on a piece of paper.
  5. Fold the piece of paper and place it in the centre of the grid and sit your centre crystal on top of your written intention. 
  6. Set up the crystals onto the grid points to align your intention. Start from the outside of the shape and work your way in. As you are placing each crystal onto your crystal grid, make sure you keep your intention in mind. 
  7. Activate the grid mindfully by passing your hand over each crystal on the grid, beginning at the top of the outer rim and travelling inward in a clockwise spiral. As you do, visualise each crystal connecting to the ones around it with a band of light – creating a web of light. When you reach your centre crystal, state your intention again and visualise the centre crystal radiating the energy from the grid out into the universe, creating a connection with universal life energy.
  8. The grid is now complete and your intention will start to manifest. You can use your grid for meditation or simply leave it in the place that it was created and ensure it’s untouched for at least 4 weeks to maintain the integrity of its intention.

After you’ve created your grid, I would recommend that you make notes of any changes you see. This will help you to track your progress and growth.

What does Holistic Therapy Mean

Holistic therapy is a form of healing that incorporates a range of disciplines that promote physical, mental and emotional health. Holistic therapists work towards restoring the body’s natural balance in achieving optimal health and wellness by aligning all parts of a person – the whole you, mind, body and spirit. It is based on the belief that if one of these aspects is off, it will affect your overall wellness.

How you feel is entirely what matters.  I take into account the physical and emotional factors that may be affecting you.  Negative emotions aren’t as welcome as positive emotions. And because it hurts, we sometimes suppress those parts of ourselves to keep the pain from intensifying or spreading and do not fully “process” them. 

Imbalances often occur when we resist emotion and its natural flow through our mind, body and spirit. Resistance can cause an emotion to lock into the body, eventually leading to physical ailments; a common example is how holding on to stress can result in headaches.

Deep, honest gratitude brings about shifts in our energies, enabling us to witness the miracles in our lives that we’ve otherwise taken for granted. 

Gratitude doesn’t need to be only for important events. Understandably, you will be very grateful for moving into your new home, passing exams and being promoted at work…. but you can also be grateful for something as simple as receiving a hug from a loved one.

Did you know that Gratitude can help with easing anxiety? 

By practising gratitude you can rewire your brain to experience less anxiety, by distracting your wandering mind into the present moment… noticing the delightful feeling of sun on your skin or tasting the flavours of the food you’re eating.  

Practising gratitude can improve your mental health and wellbeing.  You will find that you’re more emotionally resilient when challenges or episodes of anxiety come your way.

Practising gratitude means just that – you have to practice this daily, like you would a sport or any new skill. We never know what the future holds, so instead of stressing and focusing on the future, what if we really, really appreciated the present moment… all the little things that we forget to notice?  Such as the ability to take a relaxing walk.

How gratitude benefits your life:

  • Gratitude helps you live well in spite of anxiety even though it doesn’t completely remove anxiety.
  • Gratitude is a natural awakening of your ability to see past what’s making you anxious, not a feeling that is forced or superficial.
  • Gratitude is a way of thinking and being every day, not a mere technique.
  • Being grateful is a shift in how you view yourself and the world. It changes your focus from what is wrong to what is right.

Feeling down is ok. Feeling lonely is ok. Feeling anxious is ok.

These emotions are all part of the human experience and would not exist if they did not serve us in some way. Allow yourself to feel them fully and without judgment. 

Emotions are energy in motion, so let them move freely through your body instead of suppressing them and leaving the energy to stagnate.

Cry if you need to. Scream into your pillow if you need to. Give yourself permission to release in any way that feels right to you. 

Then slowly, when you are ready, bring yourself back to the present moment. Breathe.

The present moment is all we’re promised, and so we might as well be present and appreciative for these moments.

Practicing gratitude is important on our good days. It matters even more on the ones when things aren’t quite so rosy.

The last 14 months have been by far something that none of us could have ever predicted, and one we choose never to repeat. So much has happened for every one of us.  In times of crisis, it is hard to be grateful… but it’s not impossible, and the key to mentally surviving a crisis like this is to be grateful for the simplest of things in this very moment.  

It has been a long and surreal year.  We missed our family. We missed our friends. We missed our work colleagues.  We missed normality.  We are now grateful that the lockdown restrictions are easing and that we can meet with our loved ones and soon to be meeting in each other’s homes and dining inside restaurants. And to give and receive a hug.  All of which we once took for granted.   

Trials and suffering can actually refine and deepen gratefulness if we allow them to show us not to take things for granted. When times are good, people take the simplest things for granted and begin to believe that they are invulnerable. In times of uncertainty, though, people realise how powerless they are to control their own destiny. If you begin to see that everything you have, everything you have counted on, may be taken away, it becomes much harder to take it for granted.

We have plenty to be grateful for – difficult situations in our lives that helped us grow and heal, loved ones that stand by us, food on the table, a roof over our head, and so much more. 

Being grateful doesn’t mean pretending that the bad stuff isn’t happening. 

Being grateful simply means shifting your focus onto all the good things that are also there. 

The energy of gratitude is one of the most important things for a happy life. It can hold you over even when things are at their most challenging. 

Studies have shown that people who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they’re thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, have less aches and pains, are more likely to sleep better, have reduced stress, and are less irritable than those who do not practice gratitude. And these are just a handful of the benefits that being grateful can have on our health! 

Gratitude is the act of expressing appreciation for things or people in your life. There’s always something you can think of to be grateful for. 

This might include things like:

  • Your partner
  • Your best friend
  • Your family
  • Delicious food
  • A good book
  • Your pet

By taking just a few moments each day to reflect on the abundance of life’s gifts, we can truly appreciate the life we have, be present to it and consciously continue to open our hearts to more reasons to be grateful.

Chakra, Sanskrit for “spinning wheel of energy”, signifies one of seven specific energy centres in the body and mind. The seven main chakra centres are aligned along the spinal column and are connected to our being on several different levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Since our chakras are connected to our being in so many different ways, it is important that they are balanced.

This 8-week chakra course is about personal development and getting to know yourself at the subtle levels of your being by exploring the human energy field, through the seven major chakras. 

We will examine each chakra in detail; the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of each will be discussed allowing for introspection and the development of self-awareness.  The sessions will include time to explore any issues that may surface associated with a particular chakra.

Life is not about growing up, it’s about growing deeper. 

What is our inner child?

An inner child is a sub-personality that exists within our subconscious minds and it is an accumulation of all the unmet needs when we were growing up such as: 

  • Not emotionally acknowledged.
  • Not physically comforted.
  • Not seen.
  • Not heard.

5 of the common signs that your inner child isn’t connected with your adult:

  1. You avoid conflict at all costs

Carl Jung coined the term “inner child”
he proclaimed that within every adult exists an eternal child that is perpetually in a state of becoming more, and requires nurturing through unceasing care, attention and education.  
The inner child is the part of us that is vulnerable, creative, playful,
expressive and in need of tenderness. 

 When we are children, we depend on our caregivers to meet our physical, mental and emotional needs.  Unfortunately, so many of us experienced abandonment or neglect during our childhood, which left us feeling incomplete, unworthy of love. So we are desperate for other people’s approval.  We are unconsciously attracted to emotionally unavailable partners in an attempt to rewrite our narrative and to escape the pain of abandonment.  

I help my clients reprogram their subconscious beliefs and transform the trauma so they can feel safe, empowered and connected to their inner child. As a result the emotional baggage that caused anxiety, depression and self-sabotage is released freeing you to embrace happiness.

Embracing our Inner Child, sets our Adult free from the pain of the past. You can’t outrun your emotions.  
Distraction is at best a temporary relief, never a cure.

What is Ancestral Healing? 

Ancestral Healing is the belief, practice and process of reconnecting with your ancestral roots, wisdom and knowledge. Scientifically, we know we carry the genes of our forefathers and mothers. Intellectually, we have learned the culture and ways of our family. Yet, it seems we forget we have an energetic and spiritual connection to the bloodlines of our people that hold valuable information about who we are and our roles in life right now. 

Ancestral Healing is beneficial personally, on familial, communal and cultural levels, helping us remember what it means to belong, relate and thrive as humans on this Earth. Whether conscious or not, we each have relationships with the people who are now passed on but were integral to the creation of our lives. 

Over the last few years in my healing practice I have worked increasingly with ancestral healing.  This has not been a conscious decision on my part, but more dictated by the ‘work’ that needed to be done. I have found in my healing practice that I have learnt much from my clients through what shows up.

When I work with clients I am constantly ‘tracking’ in the energy field and listening to the stories that are held in their body. The physical body and the luminous energy field are like one big storehouse of information. When the body is blocked and there is tension or pain present; there is always an unfinished story. This story may be about something past or present, it is always something important for my client, it may have emotional content, there maybe unshed tears or unfelt fear or anger.  This story may have originated in childhood or adulthood, or even past lives. 

However, increasingly I am seeing ancestral stories arising. It seems that this is a potent time for ancestral healing. What is unfinished business in our family and ancestral lineage may show itself in our lives and in our physical bodies. These are the stories of our parents, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts and uncles etc.

The majority that are showing up for healing seem to be from the more recent ancestors over the last hundred or so years, however it can go back further if there has been a major trauma with little or no healing or resolution. I find that the ancestor is stuck in the astral realm and their story is playing out through their descendent or descendants. Once this story comes to the light of conscious awareness it is obvious to see who in the family has been affected and in what way. With healing, this energy is no longer able to play out in the individual’s life, and the individual’s children will not need to live it out.

I am able to see or sense the ancestor in the energy field.  I am able to listen to what is distressing them, and what they need in order to heal. When the ancestor is deeply acknowledged, the story is acknowledged, the feelings felt and acknowledged, and when the healing of the ancestor is complete; there is healing in my client. Physical pain is released, energy is released, dis-ease disappears, awareness is heightened, wisdom is gained as well as an indescribable Lightness of the Spirit! There is now room for new beginnings, all manner of healing takes place in my client.

When the healing of the ancestor takes place we are lovingly walking the ancestor home. They are no longer stuck in the astral realms and we no longer have to live out their story. 

My approach to Ancestral Healing is through energy healing and psychospiritual coaching carried out in a secure, safe, ritual-informed process that helps you identify the trauma and unprocessed pain with the help of your Ancestors and Higher Self.  

I believe we all have the ability to bring Light to our ancestral wounds. Ultimately as we go about our ancestral healing, we bring healing and Light to our world; we each do our part for the healing of the world and for the children yet unborn so they don’t have to carry the burden.

Mind Body Spirit Connection

As a Mind Body Spirit Coach I am often asked what is the Mind-Body-Spirit connection?

The connection is best understood not by isolating each part, but by finding the interrelatedness of each part.

In order to do this, we may need to undertake different activities to nurture a single aspect of ourselves and then begin to integrate these 3, seemingly separate, parts.

To develop a balanced life, you need to acknowledge the fact that you are of mind, body and spirit. The 3 are interconnected, not separate from the other.

They are alive in everything you do. Strengths and weaknesses in one area can influence all other areas.

A few basic needs of the Mind Body Spirit:

✅Mind: Needs creativity, knowledge, and a sense of security. Your mind is always ready to learn new things. Be sure that you feed it healthy, positive, and thought-provoking experiences.

✅Body: Needs movement, nutrition and rest. This is the house of the mind and the spirit. Good nutrition, daily exercise, and adequate rest help you feel your best and contribute to your mental health, can help with focus, and can help the body resist dis-ease and even enhance spiritual growth.

✅Spirit: Requires purpose, faith and meaningful relationships. Your spirit is a living part of you that needs nourishment just like your mind and body. Many people find this nourishment through prayer and meditation. Build your faith and find your purpose.

Once you start your journey to balance, you will discover things about yourself that were hidden from your consciousness.

Nurturing the mind-body and spirit can result in a better state of mind, more contentment, a feeling of well-being, and, ultimately, a better outlook on life.

Your Grandmother Carried You?!

The Mirror: A Reflection of Self

Life is like a mirror reflecting your feelings, your actions, and your thoughts. The idea is that everything you experience in life is a reflection of yourself.


There are 2 justifications behind this idea:




The idea here is that you get what you give. If you are kind to them, they will be kind to you; if you care about them, they will care about you; if you help them, they will help you, and so on. But, on the contrary, if you are negative, if you hate, if you are angry, if you are tense and so on, all these feelings will lead to undesirable behaviours. People react to your words and actions. People will echo your mood and feelings. In other words, they will treat you in accordance with the way you treat them.



You (your mind) are the cause and, at the same time, the solution to most of your problems. You create your own obstacles and barriers. Most of the obstacles we face in life are self-imposed. You are your worst enemy. The fear of failure and negative thinking are the cause of a lack of confidence and prevent you to reach your true potential. Remember, limits exist only in our minds.


On the other hand, you can create your own success story. I like to think of life as a book, every person has a story behind them. Each one of us is the writer of our own story. You decide who you are going to be in this story, the people who share this journey with you. You are the maker of your own circumstances and your own character. 


?I believe that you can transform everything around you, but first you need to reset your mind, reprogram it, and then execute the new program. It’s simple, yet complex at the same time. The key is to be positive and to run towards your fears. Think as big as you like, and don’t hesitate to show the world who you really are, because you’re awesome!?


It’s funny how Mindfulness can sometimes desert you when you need it the most…

There's no place like home

On my visit to the garden centre I was greeted with a coronavirus queue, snaking majestically out of the door.  My heart sank, and settled somewhere around my knees. 

Resisting the urge to reach for my phone, I realised that this unexpected waiting time provided me with a little pool of quiet time.

In the past, I have fallen into the trap of thinking that mindfulness is only possible in the right environment.  For me, that would be at home in my meditation space, on my stool, with my ‘special’ cushion. I have often been guilty of using the wrong environment as an excuse not to practice when I haven’t had time or been away from home.

I have practiced mindfulness in aeroplanes, on trains, in the supermarket queues and at work. As well as in the quiet environments, that we might think would be more conducive to mindfulness.  In fact, I would say that I get more benefit from being mindful in busy environments, because these are often the places that can increase stress and anxiety.

It is possible to be either totally mindful or completely distracted in any environment.

You could be in the quietest, most picturesque place, yet be caught up with your thoughts and worries, or be in the noisiest, busiest place, yet be fully aware of the present moment.

Being mindful is not dependent on a particular environment, on being alone, or on having complete silence.

Just make a deal with yourself not to pass judgment on what’s happening. ACCEPT What is here is here. You’re not going to be able to change the length of the queue. Allow what is. It doesn’t mean you have to enjoy queueing. But you’ll make yourself unhappy if you spend the entire time wishing you were somewhere else, instead of right here, in this queue, in this present moment. 

You can use this time to bring your awareness on your:

  • surroundings
  • breath
  • feet
  • body

When I stepped into the mindfulness of my surroundings, I became aware that despite the queue being very long, it was in fact the two metre social distancing gaps there made it so long, not the amount of people in the queue! 

The following are a couple of steps to help you achieve mindfulness.

  • Focus on your breathing. You may notice that your breathing is shallow and fast because you’ve been rushing around. Now you have stopped still, you can control your breath by slowing it down. This tells your brain that you are relaxing. It may only be for a few moments, but it’s enough to invite your body to relax. You will begin to feel more balanced and relaxed as your body introduces feel-good endorphins. 
  • Now focus on is visualising deep breaths. Imagine that they roll right up from the earth, through the soles of your feet and right up through your body, out of your nose, then back down your nose through your body and out of the soles of your feet. Focus on your breaths as they move up and down, in and out.

If you are feeling particularly stressed, you can tie in your breaths with a phrase, ‘I breathe in calm’ and ‘I breathe out tension’.

After 20 minutes or so of mindfulness, I finally reached the front of the queue. In the past, I would have been hot and bothered, but this time I felt far more serene. My time in the coronavirus queue could hardly have been described as ‘pleasant’ but neither was it particularly unpleasant. It was 20 minutes of my life in which I had been fully aware of being alive in all its majestic glory. And that is infinitely better than the alternative.

Did you know that I offer Online sessions?

 Online sessions are a convenient and effective alternative to face-to-face sessions.
Particularly during the current Coronavirus climate where our ability to move around in the community is reduced ??

Online therapy means that you can arrange your therapy sessions at a time and place that suits you, without adding time for travel, parking, traffic congestion and so on. Instead, you attend the sessions from the comfort of your own home, or from a private room at work during a break, or wherever suits you.

  • Just like my face-to-face appointments, online sessions run for one or 1.5 hours and are charged at the standard rates.
  • I use either Skype, FaceTime or Zoom platforms.
  • I find that Online sessions are just as effective as face-to-face sessions.
  • In fact, some find it easier to talk about difficult topics being in their own space.
  • The structure of the sessions is exactly the same as face-to-face sessions and the interventions are the same.

A number of my online clients have reported they found the initial first steps of the process less stressful when undertaken online. This is because they were able to remain in familiar surroundings throughout their session, and didn’t have the stress and uncertainty of travelling to an appointment. If these are things that you feel you may struggle with, then online sessions via Skype, FaceTime or Zoom could be a fantastic option to explore.

As long as you have an internet connection and a computer with a webcam and microphone then we can work together. 
In fact, often clients work with me using iPads and other tablets and phones to make it even easier.
