Your Connection To Colour
What Is Colour Therapy?
Colour therapy and energy healing (also known as chromotherapy) uses the visible spectrum of light and colour to affect a person’s mood and physical or mental health. Each colour falls into a specific frequency and vibration, which many believe contribute to specific properties that can be used to affect the energy and frequencies within our bodies.
Colours are known to have an effect on people with emotional troubles. For example, the colour blue can have a calming effect which can then result in lower blood pressure, whereas the colour red might have the opposite effect. Green is another colour that may be used to relax people who are emotionally unbalanced. Yellow, on the other hand, may be used to help invigorate people who might be suffering from depression.
What Does A Colour Therapy Session Involve?
A chakra reading is taken before treatment in order to assess the energy within the chakras.
Colour Therapy can be administered in all kinds of ways and usually starts with a consultation to assess the situation and a personal therapy plan is drawn up. Colour can be given by the silks as you can see, by lights, coloured scarves, crystals to name a few of the better known ways. More often than not a session will include several ways of administering and sending colour to where it is needed. It is quite amazing how much one session can alter the balance although, often it will take more than one session to totally bring things back to their true order.
As an energy healer I often use colour in my healings by mentally directing specific colour rays into the patient’s aura and body. Oftentimes, the colour that’s used is inspired by the subconscious.
What Are The Benefits Of Colour Therapy?
Light is considered to be one of the purest healing forces in the universe. The presence or absence of light can affect the Hypothalamus, Pituitary and Pineal glands. This, in turn, can influence our physical and mental health. We’ve listed a few of the various benefits that come from using colour therapy below:
- Safe and pain-free so it can be used for children, adults and elderly alike
- Addresses the physical symptoms of an ailment and also its non-physical origin
- Balances the Chakras in the body
- Has a positive influence on not only physical levels but also mental and spiritual levels
- Helps meditation and relaxation, and can enlighten and transform an individual
- Eliminates emotional blockages before they can manifest as mental or physical illnesses
Apart from these benefits, colour therapy can improve awareness and help individuals understand the need for including certain colours in their daily lives. It can also help natural healing in a body, enabling overall well-being.
Colour therapy is a safe and effective treatment and can be either be used on its own or alongside another therapy.

How Does It Work?
Just like x-rays and radio waves, colour also has a measurable vibration of energy. Each colour has its own vibrational rate with the longest ray at the red end of the spectrum and the shortest waves at the purple end. Each part of our body resonates to a different colour vibration and we can use these colours to harmonise our bodies and restore equilibrium. To operate at our best, we need to have the correct balance of all the rainbow colours in our energetic system.
If we are depleted in one colour energy, another may be too dominant, which can cause imbalance and disharmony. If we are drained and tired, we can choose colours that will stimulate our energy, when anxious, colours that are calming can be beneficial. When we need loving and nurturing in our lives, gentle colours can be of assistance and when feeling vulnerable wearing protective colours may help not to allow unwanted energies to attach to us.
When going through changes in our lives, we can be drawn to new and different colours to what we are generally accustomed to. By incorporating these colours into our lives, we are allowing the transition to be easier.
