What Is Emotional Freedom Technique?

EFT also known as Tapping, is considered as the emotional acupuncture therapy without the physical invasiveness of needles. Instead, to carry out EFT therapy, you use your fingertips on top of the meridian points of your body. It is a form of counselling intervention that draws on various theories of alternative medicine including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and energy medicine.

How Can You, As An EFT Practitioner, Assist Me In This Process?

It can be very difficult to tap on ourselves and on our own issues, as we are all masters at hiding from and avoiding that which we find unpleasant. That hiding happens automatically and without conscious thought.

It’s difficult putting emotions into words. As a trained EFT practitioner I can bring in the objectivity to ask the questions, to then link the questions to the tapping phrases, that we’d dare to ask ourselves, for effective results.

How Does Tapping On The Body Have An Effect On Emotions?

The tapping action stimulates the well-energy within yourself. It provides immediate and positive results to either a physical or emotional problem.

All negative emotions are felt through a disruption of the body’s energy and physical pain and disease are intricately connected to negative emotions.

You cannot treat the symptoms without addressing the cause, and vice-versa. Tapping restores the body’s energy balance, and negative emotions are conquered.

Health problems create a feedback loop, physical symptoms cause emotional distress, and unresolved emotional problems manifest themselves through physical symptoms. So, the body’s health must be approached as a whole.

What Happens During An EFT Session?

The basic technique requires you to focus on the negative emotion at hand: a fear or anxiety, a bad memory, an unresolved problem, or anything that is bothering you. While maintaining your mental focus on this issue, use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times each on 12 of the body’s meridian points. Tapping on these points – while concentrating on accepting and resolving the negative emotion – will access your body’s energy, restoring it to a balanced state.

You may be wondering about these meridians. Put simply, energy circulates through your body along a specific network of channels. You can tap into this energy at any point along the system.

This concept comes from the doctrines of traditional Chinese medicine, which referred to the body’s energy as ‘chi.’

Who Can Benefit From EFT?

Whether you want to deal with emotional blocks, stress, anxiety, fears, anger, traumas, addictions, phobias, alleviate physical pains, reach your ideal weight, or stop smoking, EFT helps make it happen.

Over 20 clinical trials published in medical and psychology journals have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, pain and other problems.

EFT has shown results, often where nothing else has, and recently has proven to be very effective in treating PTSD in just a few sessions.

Based on the ancient principles of acupuncture, and kinesiology. EFT is a simple tapping procedure that gently realigns the body’s energy system, using the endpoints of the energy meridians. No needles are used. Unlike other energy healing methods, EFT incorporates an emotional element in the healing process, addressing unresolved emotional issues as a likely contributing cause of physical disease, psychological and emotional dysfunction, and personal performance limits.
